I didn’t grow up in a surf town. I grew up in a quiet village near Ghent, Belgium — far from waves, but close to a restless kind of wonder. I wasn’t the popular kid. I was a dreamer, someone who felt more at home in the wild than in a classroom.

Family holidays to the coast gave me my first taste of the ocean. But it wasn’t until high school — when I stood up on my first real wave — that something clicked. From that moment on, I was hooked.

Life didn’t make it easy. A freak accident nearly took my leg and changed everything. But it didn’t break me — it shaped me. It gave me purpose, drive, and a deeper love for everything I’d still get to chase and dream in life.

That love carried me across the world — surfing in Indonesia, sailing through French Polynesia, riding waves in Australia, hiking through New Zealand, Iceland, and exploring China, India, Nepal, and Mexico. I was chasing meaning in saltwater and silence — and soaking in the raw beauty of people, cultures, and nature along the way.

And then I found Ericeira.

A surf town with soul. Ericeira is where the ocean humbles you, and the people live by its rhythm. It’s a place where the sea isn’t just scenery — it shapes everything. A small fishing town where the world collides. Cultures meet. Stories blend. And the ocean reminds us that we’re not in control — we’re connected.
